Hello and thank you for visiting the Kentucky WEG for Business resource blog. I am member of the Georgetown-Scott County Chamber of Commerce serving on the Marketing & Communications committee and owner of AT Design & Illustration in Georgetown, KY.
What is your business doing?
Are you thinking about the Kentucky FEI World Equestrian Games (KyWEG) from a business perspective? If so, what should you do to prepare your business for the KyWEG? Maybe you consider it too early to prepare for the games, which are less than two years away. Maybe you’re unaware of the impact it may have on your business or are overwhelmed by all of the information circulating already. Perhaps you think you don't need to do anything at all. But if you do want to start preparing, how should you steer your business to get involved?
These are questions I share with other business owners in the Lexington and Georgetown communities. Often these commerce questions are unanswered because the conversation gets diverted to funding for the Kentucky Horse Park, politics or specific horse industry participation in the games.
I asked Georgetown’s Chamber of Commerce Marketing & Communications Committee when will the Bluegrass be ready to balance public policy discussions with business development and growth issues related to KyWEG. Businesses have questions to pose and ideas to share, but all we seem to hear about is the need for hotels, resorts and Horse Park funding. How do entrepreneurs and small businesses fit into this conversation?
One answer to this question (with the support of the Georgetown-Scott County Chamber of Commerce and the Marketing & Communications Committee) was to launch this business resource blog where local businesses share ideas, activities and information in preparation for the Kentucky Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games. Please join us on this journey.
